While in San Antonio Rohrbach submitted a bid that was accepted to make San Marcos the permanent site for the State Archery Tournament in future years.

From San Marcos Record: The City Park pool opening found this new safety device in the middle of the stream with lifeguard Nathan Porter sitting in it. The lifeguard station anchored to the bottom of the river at the lower end of the shallow children's area is designed to further insure the safety of swimmers from the swift water in mid-stream. The pool is opened from 1 pm until 7 pm according to manager Jesse Howard.

From San Marcos Record: Educated guesses ranged greatly in size as members of the Chamber of Commerce's Conservation Tour tried to figure out how many cubic yards of earth would be used to build the dam at site seven on York Creek. Such contests as this added spice to the tour as area farmers, ranchers, and businessmen took a look at the York Creek improvements.

Pepe told the San Marcos Record that he is making the trip because of a vow to his church and he hopes to go on to Europe to continue his bicycle He has worn out nine sets of tires on his English bike and he sustains himself on the generosity of those along the way.
