From San Marcos Record: Ready for any emergency – these Girl Scouts of Troop 4 decided not to delay their troop camping trip to Bastrop despite a 6.5-inch rain in that vicinity. Armed with paddle, food, and the troop campers' trailer from Austin, these girls left Tuesday for a week of camping and work on their first-class rank. They are seated left to right: Nancy House, Janie Dietz, Virginia Kennedy and Judy Hill. Fay Voss is active in the hospital as a registered nurse. The family arrived from Weslaco where William was a teacher at the valley Grande Academy. The family will reside 1116 Sycamore Street.

From San Marcos Record: The brass rail had its customers Wednesday as the Rotary Club members dined at Aquarena Restaurant and were guests of Paul Rogers and Don Russell for a tour of the attractions. Here is a scene showing activity at the bar in the frontier saloon (soft drinks here only of course) as club president Leroy Young tilts the jug. Bill Franz, Baptist Deacon, is at left. Bill Houck holds his glass for a snort while Chuck Jones, pastor of First Christian Church apparently tries to hide at far right.

Helping her remember her camera is Larry Bales, another nine-year-old who is attending the Episcopal sponsored camp near Waring with about 84 other youngsters.

The rest of the aircraft and its two pilots returned to Kelly AFB unharmed but a report of a fallen piece of plane had officials searching far into the night for a jet crash.
