From San Marcos Record: A treasured invitation to the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson is being carefully scrutinized by Larry Langley and Bob Bell, two boys who only hours before had no idea they would get to attend the history making event. Langley, an outstanding student at San Marcos High School , and Bell, the cadet commander at the Academy, received the invitation to go with the SWT band on the plane Thursday morning under the auspices of the chamber of Commerce. The boys will fill two vacant seats left by ill band members.

W. Low for a plane trip to Washington where they will attend the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy and Vice - President Lyndon B. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Low are close friends of the Vice – President.

From San Marcos Record: Honorary Citizenship was bestowed on all of the Caravanners, but this couple, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Allin of Newcastle, Ontario , Canada were selected by Mayor Allen to receive not only "citizenship " certificate, but "naturalization" as well.

They were part of 100 who partook of lunch as final group meeting of Wally Byam Caravanners en route to Mexico.

From San Marcos Record: Broken Bow, Nebraska was represented by a visitor to the Wally Byam Caravan rendezvous here Saturday, in the person of Harry Purcell, publisher, who was visiting his friend, Paul Drew and family, formerly neighbors at Beatrice, Neb. Purcell has in his possession the broken bow, discarded by Indians who once camped on the site of the town and from which took its name.
