From San Marcos Record: Mrs. Woodrow Stephenson receives the Girl Scout Thanks Badge at the annual box supper which was held at the Travis School Cafeteria on Thursday evening, March 9th. Mrs. J.G. Obenhaus, Neighborhood Chairman, is pinning it on. The Thanks badge is the highest award an individual may receive from the Girl Scouts and must be approved by National Headquarters. The girls regularly to make tray decorations, write letters or run errands for the patient's comfort.

This is another of the branches of the Senior Scout Program and is under the guidance of Miss Idella Mae Fidler and Dr. Jean Smith. Enjoying the oarsmanship are Patsy McBride, Eveline Conrads, Susan Christman, Lucinda Conrads and Becky Davis.

From San Marcos Record: Girl Scout workers who met for coffee at the home of Mrs. Ray Avey on Monday are setting the groundwork for day camp which is to be held at Camp Kiwah on the Blanco River June 5th – 9th. A record number of campers is expected this season under the direction of Mrs. Avey. Seated are Mrs. Ruth Avey, Mrs. Ola Dietz, Mrs. Becky Lowman, Miss Shelly Armstead, Jean Briggs and Geneva Pate. Standing are Dr. Jean Smith, Mrs., Margaret Russell, Mrs. Elizabeth Stepheson, Mary Alice McIntyre, Mrs. Irma Hook, Mrs. Johnnie Armstead and Mrs. Katherine Rheinlander.

Each of these groups prepared camp dinner in a different fashion at Camp Kiwah. Mrs. Lil Miller assisted with arts and crafts in the training. Those who completed this course are: Brownie leaders: Frances Dixon, Katherine Rheinlander, Walba Watts, Mary Alice Guerrero and Elizabeth Hudspeth. Intermediate leaders: Erma Hook, Margaret Cochran, Dolores Benson, Mary Alice MacIntyre, Johnnie Armstead, Becky Lowman, Ola Dietz, and Margaret Russell. Mrs. Ruth Avey was the instructor and will be the Day Camp Director this summer.

Armed with paddle, food, and the troop campers' trailer from Austin, these girls left Tuesday for a week of camping and work on their first-class rank. They are seated left to right: Nancy House, Janie Dietz, Virginia Kennedy and Judy Hill. Standing, left to right: Linda Dietz, Beck Hook, Janet Skaggs, Nancy Hanel, Gail Hughson, Laura Laas, and Jean Helton. Leaders are Mrs. Ola Dietz and Mrs. Erma Hook.
