Description
From San Marcos Record: One of the best teenage bowling teams in the United States belong to San Marcos according to results of the American Junior Bowling Association Mail-o-graphic Tournament. These five boys, on the Ten Pin Chatter Team, placed 210th out of more than 5000 teams entered. Left to right they are Carl Christman, Pat Shaw, Ronnie Brown, Frank Thomson and Henry Hooper who is being congratulated by Mayor C.M. Allen.

Conservation Tour (Image 1961-061_012)

Description
From San Marcos Record: Conservation dividends Guadalupe Natal, a student at San Marcos High School learned that conservation pays when he received a $25 savings bond from Charles Brown, head of the Agricultural division of the Chamber of Commerce. Brown and other members of the division were meeting to plan the annual conservation tour scheduled for May 26th.

From San Marcos Record: Day Camp Training Graduates sample outdoor Cookery upon completion of course in leadership last week. Each of these groups prepared camp dinner in a different fashion at Camp Kiwah. Mrs. Lil Miller assisted with arts and crafts in the training. Those who completed this course are: Brownie leaders: Frances Dixon, Katherine Rheinlander, Walba Watts, Mary Alice Guerrero and Elizabeth Hudspeth. Intermediate leaders: Erma Hook, Margaret Cochran, Dolores Benson, Mary Alice MacIntyre, Johnnie Armstead, Becky Lowman, Ola Dietz, and Margaret Russell. Mrs. Ruth Avey was the instructor and will be the Day Camp Director this summer.

From San Marcos Record: Three freshmen from Kyle High School with their instructor Elbert D. Steele, left, after winning the State Poultry Judging Champions at Texas A&M, on Saturday, May 6th. The boys are (left to right) , Joe Castillo, Nick Thiele, and Orville Collier. Their win marked the second State Judging Title won by Kyle High School since May of 1955, when the school took home the State Dairy Judging title. The three young men will go on to the National Judging Contest to be held in Kansas City, Missouri in November.
