From San Marcos Record: Three freshmen from Kyle High School with their instructor Elbert D. Steele, left, after winning the State Poultry Judging Champions at Texas A&M, on Saturday, May 6th. The boys are (left to right) Nick Thiele, Joe Castillo, and Orville Collier. Their accomplishment marked the second State Judging Title won by Kyle High School since May of 1955, when the school took home the State Dairy Judging title. The three young men will go on to the National Judging Contest to be held in Kansas City, Missouri in November.
