Yard of the Month (Image 1960-309_001)

Description
From San Marcos Record: Yard of the Month – The Balcones Garden Club has selected the yard at the Winter Logan home as the yard of the month for September. The judging was based on eye appeal, care, continuity of planting, originality, color coordination and permanence. The Logans' yard has something blooming in it every season of the year. At present, the pyracantha bush on the northwest side of the house is a blaze of red and there are red roses and yellow and bronze chrysanthemums which are just starting to bloom. Joseph's coat borders the flower beds. Pittosporum is gradually covering the fireplace and wandering jew spills out of the window. The lamp post in front is covered with Carolina jasmine which is profusion of yellow in the spring time. The leaves on the Chinese tallow trees will soon be turning fall colors and are equally as pretty as the Spanish oak tree leaves. Other trees in the yard include two Arizona ashes, a pear, plum, fig and several pecan trees. Mrs. Logan brought many of these shrubs and plants from her home in South Carolina. From the October 27, 1960, issue.
