The "Hell Divers Air Show" presented an afternoon of aerial acrobatics and stunt flying at the government airport located off of Martindale Road on Sunday, March 8, 1936. Billed as "the most daring and spectacular aggregation of air circus performers in the nation", the group presented a full program of aerial events. Famed stunt man Ronald Kumzak preformed his signature "bat jump" for only the third time in Texas. The jump was made from an altitude of two miles with Kumzak gliding back to earth, "looping and spinning" similar to an airplane preforming aerobatic moves. Additionally, pilots Johnny Osterhouse, Obb Siem and Archie Gieser put on an exhibition of flying stunt maneuvers. Jack Robinson added great excitement to the afternoon proceedings by flying his airplane at a speed of 100 miles an hour and then used the edge of his airplane's wingtip to retrieve a handkerchief placed on the ground. For the finale performance, a passenger free 1936 model Terraplane automobile was driven around on the airfield all the while being radio controlled from the air by Miss Gloria Hall, a Hollywood movie stunt flyer. Spectators attending the show were provided the opportunity to take an airplane ride over the city of San Marcos at the conclusion of the air show. March 6, 1936
