The boxers ranged from 31 to 190 pounds, so the crowd of fans got a good look at all sizes of action in the free swinging bouts. In the first bout Sammy Luna defeated Willie Espinoza. In the heavyweight division, lighter Lupe Flores 179. won a decision over Joe Cortez, 190. Other flights included Johnny Espinoza over Sammy Puentez, Johnny Mendoza over Joe Martinez and Bonito Juarez over Hilbert Chagoya. Tony Serna served as the referee for the fights.

Polio Vaccination Drive (Image 1960-102_001)

From San Marcos Record: A knock-out blow was delivered on Hays County polio this past week as hundreds of San Marcos youngsters were given polio vaccine shots by Red Cross workers in the Southside Community Center. Mrs. Tom Johnson at the right looks over vaccination cards kept by each of the boys and girls and parents on the number of shots received. From the April 14, 1960.
