From San Marcos Record: Groundbreaking ceremonies last Friday morning officially began construction for the KLRN – TV channel 9, the educational television station that will serve a huge portion of central Texas. Among the directors of the new station are Miss Elizabeth Koch of San Antonio (with shovel), Dr. W.W. Jackson, president of the board on the left of Miss Koch and Dr. Carruth of Austin on the right. Dr. M.O. Juel of SWTTC is standing second from the right as he represented Dr. John G. Flowers.

From San Marcos Record: The proposed Kyle Community Library and Historical building designed by de Groot and Scudder, architects of Austin, will cost approximately $25,000 and have about 1000 square feet of floor space. Initial work on the building is awaiting the establishment of the office of librarian to operate the library.

From San Marcos Record: The Veterans Day Parade was one of the most colorful in recent years. Among the main units in the parade were the band organizations of the college, high school and Academy, the motor vehicles of the local National Guard unit, the fire department equipment, the Girl Scouts, the Cub Scouts and numerous vehicles carrying almost every organization in the city. Marshalling the parade was J.R. Buckner, a man who has done this service for a number of years.
