From San Marcos Record: Fence of fish was the order of the day behind Roberts Building Materials when J.R. Roberts, his son John Jr., Billy Gulledge, Jr. and his father B.R. Gulledge displayed the almost 300 bass they caught at Don Martin lake in Mexico last week. Almost all the bass were caught casting with "Bombers" doing most of the damage. From San Marcos Record: The sixth annual Fishing Rodeo sponsored by the Sportsman's Club held on May 15, 1960. Two hundred forty – two people attended the rodeo and fish fry. Prizes were awarded in several categories along with twenty-five at large prizes donated by local businesses. Each child who participated in the rodeo was furnished their own fishing rod and bait courtesy of the Sportsmen's Club. From the May 19, 1960, issue.

From San Marcos Record: Crowded banks along the slough marked the sixth annual Kids' Fishing Rodeo held on the Sportsmen Club property this past Sunday afternoon. A record number of children entered the finny competition, and their parents watched anxiously for results. The sixth annual Fishing Rodeo sponsored by the Sportsman's Club held on May 15, 1960.
