From San Marcos Record: Girl Scout workers who met for coffee at the home of Mrs. Ray Avey on Monday are setting the groundwork for day camp which is to be held at Camp Kiwah on the Blanco River June 5th – 9th. A record number of campers is expected this season under the direction of Mrs. Avey. Seated are Mrs. Ruth Avey, Mrs. Ola Dietz, Mrs. Becky Lowman, Miss Shelly Armstead, Jean Briggs and Geneva Pate. Standing are Dr. Jean Smith, Mrs., Margaret Russell, Mrs. Elizabeth Stepheson, Mary Alice McIntyre, Mrs. Irma Hook, Mrs. Johnnie Armstead and Mrs. Katherine Rheinlander.

From San Marcos Record: The other car – this is the late model Chevrolet driven by Osie Callaway that collided with the rear of the car in which Domingo Castillo and Johnny Capatillo lost their lives. Callaway's car split open the other's car fuel tank that resulted in the fatal flames.
