From San Marcos Record: Confirmation services were held at the American Lutheran Church last Sunday for those nine boys and girls under the direction of their pastor, the Reverend Erwin Knitt. The children, left to right, are Doris Haner, Vicki Allen, Clarice Blaschke, Glenn Randow, Billy Haonel, Terry Satterwhite, Judy Anderson, Donna Shannon and Susie Christman. Bill Soyers' Airplane (Image 1960-128_001)

From San Marcos Record: New air carrier service in San Marcos is now being provided by Bill Soyers, rancher and former instructor at Camp Gary. Soyers' plane is a Cessna Skyline that features cruising speeds of 160 miles per hour and all the necessary navigational equipment for all weather flight. The plane is located at the city airport on Highway 81 South. From the April 14, 1960, issue.

Polio Vaccination Drive (Image 1960-102_001)

Description
From San Marcos Record: A knock-out blow was delivered on Hays County polio this past week as hundreds of San Marcos youngsters were given polio vaccine shots by Red Cross workers in the Southside Community Center. Mrs. Tom Johnson at the right looks over vaccination cards kept by each of the boys and girls and parents on the number of shots received. From the April 14, 1960.

The win qualifies Eugene Bowie, Eugene Franke, and Johnny Herzog, left to right, for the State Meet at A&M. Herzog, by totaling the most individual points, got a scholarship at Tarleton. 1960 Fire Prevention Week (Image 1960-024_004)

From San Marcos Record: Fire Prevention Week got one of its biggest boosts in the history of San Marcos this week as a fire department team of Jack Major (left) and young Sherrell Slayter, David Major and Edward Rodenberg put on assembly programs in public schools throughout the city. Students were urged at the schools to make home fire inspections and correct any hazards they found. Here Fire Marshall Major extinguishes one of the most common hazards.
