Description
Photograph of a car that has bullet holes in it parked in a field. From San Marcos Record: "Caught red-handed in the act of stealing gasoline from a tank owned by A. J. Farris was Emilio Villareal. Villareal had the hose in his auto tank when both Mr. and Mrs. Farris fired shots into his car and hastened his surrender. Villareal was charged with burglary. Note the bullet holes in the side of the car." From October 15, 1959 issue.

Fire Inspection (Image 1960-005_003)

From San Marcos Record: These inspectors ferreted out dangerous fire hazards Wednesday in San Marcos's second fire inspection. Pictured are filed representatives of insurance companies, firemen and Boy Scouts. The fieldmen came on the request of the Chamber of Commerce and local insurance men to help save San Marcos from loss of life, property, and money vis insurance premiums. From San Marcos Record: "Whups, Here's One," says Boy Scout Mike Perkins as he pastes a "fix me" tag on one of the Record fuse boxes. The Record plant, like many of the other local business house, was not immune to fire hazards – according to the red tags, insurance fieldmen Jerry Cowan and Marshall Crawford look on with Scott Johnny Taylor.
