From San Marcos Record: Judy and Byron Little Jr. with paper kites. Cub scout, Byron Little of den two took first prize in the Kite Tournament. The Cubs, under the direction of their leader Mrs. Byron Little made kites at the last meeting in order to attend the annual tournament sponsored by the Exchange Club and the Austin Recreation Department. The San Marcos Cubs flew their kites all afternoon but only Byron could be persuaded to enter the contest. Approximately 75 from Austin and the surrounding area attended the tournament. 10-year-old Byron won first place for the strongest pulling kite with a 6 pound pull while Judy took second in the hundred yard dash in a field of 25 boys and one other girl. Both received ribbons and cash awards. Contest rules called for the kites to carry at least 50 feet of string and remain in the air during the entire race. From the March 17, 1960, issue.
From San Marcos Record: Tom Sibson, San Antonio sports car owner and his Ferrari-Corvette which will race at Camp Gary on April 9 – 10th. The little car becomes part of the San Marcos exhibit at the San Antonio Boat and Sports Show which opened Tuesday. The powerful car, typical of those which will race here, as rated at 300 HP and will make 180 MPH. From the March 17, 1960, issue.

In the heavyweight division, lighter Lupe Flores 179. won a decision over Joe Cortez, 190. Other flights included Johnny Espinoza over Sammy Puentez, Johnny Mendoza over Joe Martinez and Bonito Juarez over Hilbert Chagoya. Tony Serna served as the referee for the fights.
