From San Marcos Record: Gander Sale Helps March of Dimes – A total of $383 was raised in a "sale and resale" of a gander at Green Valley Farms this week. The gander is shown with "Red" Davis of Houston and J.D. Cummings of Green Valley (front row). Standing in the rear are Earl Allen and Bill Hall of Houston, Gay Harris of Wimberley, I.C. Little of Dallas, Jack Hughes of San Marcos, and E.L. Hallmark of Houston (not shown was Mrs. J.D. Cummings). These people, along with the Hauck Brothers bought and sold, re-bought and sold, the gander until the $383 figure was reached. Mrs. Cummings donated the gander to the sale, and Mr. Cummings wound up in possession of him when the sale ended.
