From San Marcos Record: Champion candy sellers for the Junior High School were Steve Johnson and Beverly Posey, who each sold 110 boxes of candy in a fund-raising drive by the student council. From the San Marcos Record: This Swanson hawk, measuring 48 inches from wing-tip to wing tip, was captured by Samuel Valdez on the Hunter Road when he found the bird struggling in high grass. From San Marcos Record: Rattlesnakes which usually have crawled into their holes for the winter by this time of the year, are still active due to the recent warm temperatures. This six-foot rattler with 14 rattles was killed by Antonio Aranda (holding snake) near the northeast edge of town last Friday. Gesturing toward the snake is Harold Jay while Bobby Cornelius looks on. The latter are college students. From the December 8, 1960, issue.
