Description
Photograph of eleven male San Marcos High School students standing and posing together in front of building. The San Marcos High School organized the school's first safety patrol on January 4, 1938. The purpose of the organization was to provide a safe environment for students crossing North Austin Street on their way to and from the school. Charter members were Fred Pferdeort – Captain. Eddie Dedeke, John Matthew Cape, Bobby Wright, Craig Johnson, Woods Kone, Rufus Alexander, Billy Williams, and Oliver Jennings. Members were chosen on the basis of courtesy, dependability, thoughtfulness, cooperation and scholarship. Faculty advisors were Riley Housewright and Ivan Johnson. January 7, 1938

A member of the Campus School Safety Patrol which was first organized on January 4, 1938. From San Marcos Record: Three-hundred-foot tower to which a TV antenna will be attached for the college to send and receive closed taped classroom instruction is nearing completion. The educational television station will be completed by September 11th and go into full operation by the 17th.
