Farley was greeted by a crowd estimated at over 6000 people on a visit to the San Marcos post office. Having addressed the joint session of the Texas Legislature earlier in the morning, Postmaster General Farley was on his way to San Antonio with brief stops in San Marcos and New Braunfels. Met by city officials just outside the city limits, Farley arrived at the local post office with a motorcycle escort to crowds lining the streets. Music was furnished by the Academy Drum and Bugle Corp along with the SWTTC Band. After a short address to the citizens of the San Marcos, Postmaster General Farley toured the post office and greeted postal employees. He was presented a gift from the city by Postmaster Oran W. Cliett – a painting of the General Edward Burleson homestead. March 26, 1937

From San Marcos Record: Dallas vacationers at Port Aransas ate breakfast after vacating first the island and later North Beach at Corpus Christi. Left are Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Bramlett, right Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fenner, all of Dallas. It was the second time the foursome had been un off the island by storms.
