From San Marcos Record: First to be capped in Hay's County were these Red Cross volunteer nurse's aides, who completed 40 hours of training to earn the coveted caps. Left to right the ladies are: Mrs. Frank Villanueva, Mrs. Sam Beecroft, Mrs. W.K. Davis, Mrs. Noble Field, Mrs. O.Y. Goswick, Mrs. L. F. Schockner, Mrs. Susie Sherman, Dr. Jean Smith, Mrs. Catarino Villapando, and Mrs. Carl Thompson. The capping ceremony took place at Carson's where a "dutch treat" dinner was held.
