From San Marcos Record: "Gordon F. Baker of Falls City, Nebraska purchased the Connell Motors Lincoln Mercury Dealership in late April of 1957. Originally from the Schulenberg/Weimer area, the Baker family has called Falls City home for the past five years. The Mercury dealership was located on Highway 81 at the Circle. The service department was staffed by John D. Herwig and Dean Gourley. Gordon Baker and Juan Machado managed the sales department. During the first week of July 1959, Mr. Baker added the Edsel to his line of automobiles. After three and a half years in San Marcos, Gordon Baker Motors closed as the Baker family returned to Falls City, Nebraska in late August of 1960."
