From San Marcos Record: "Events for the Campus Elementary Field Day competition held May 8th included: the three-leg race, sack races, 40-& 50-yard dashes, relay races, potato races and the softball throw. Fourth grade competition was won by students from Mrs. James Hopkin Dyer's class. Fifth grade competition was won by students from Mrs. George Martindale's class. Sixth grade competition was won by Mrs. Tollie Raymond Buie's class." From May 14, 1959 issue.
