From San Marcos Record: "This group of nine youngsters showed the prize-winning swine at the Hays County 4-H Pig Show sponsored by the Sears Swine Foundation on Tuesday, September 28th. In the front row are Dennis Goehring, owner of the second-place winner in the gilt contest. Bennie Ray Williams, whose gilt won first prize. Allen Gene Goehring, who showed the best pen of fat hogs and the prize-winning boar. and Lewis Edward Ehrlich, whose pen of three fat hogs won second place in that category. Standing in the back row are Alton Ray Schmeltekopf, whose gilt won sixth place; Clifford Jack Gould, whose gilt won fourth place; Erwin Hagedorn, owner of fifth place gilt; Charles Schmeltekopf, third place winner with his pen of three fat hogs; and Keith Miller, owner of third place gilt."
