Information provided by users of original Flickr collection: "The San Marcos High School organized the school's first safety patrol on January 4, 1938. The purpose of the organization was to provide a safe environment for students crossing North Austin Street on their way to and from the school.Charter members were Fred Pferdeort – Captain. Eddie Dedeke, John Matthew Cape, Bobby Wright, Craig Johnson, Woods Kone, Rufus Alexander, Billy Williams, and Oliver Jennings. Members were chosen on the basis of courtesy, dependability, thoughtfulness, cooperation and scholarship.Faculty advisors were Riley Housewright and Ivan Johnson. January 7, 1938"
