Description
From San Marcos Record: Embankment Bottom – the earthen embankment for the Canyon Dam to be the highest in the state, got its first load of dirt recently as clear weather allowed contractors Tecon – Green a chance to try and catch up to the schedule. The 10 million cubic yards of dirt is expected to take about 49 months to place in the huge embankment. This view of what will be the northern half of the embankment was taken from the 150-foot control tower. The pit in the center will hold impounded earth to prevent water seepage under the embankment.
